Trekking and Climbing of Sangay volcano

Sangay Volcano is considered one of the world's most active volcanoes, lies in the Eastern range of the Ecuadorian Andes, with a height of 5230 meters, is in constant eruption since the year 1935. The approach to this Volcano is a challenge, since it is located near the Amazon basin, it´s ascent has no technical difficulties but the approach is very strong, therefore it requires excellent physical condition.

Day 1			Baños - Riobamba - Guargualla - We start from the town of Banos. Lunch in Riobamba and then continue to the village of Guargualla, where we will dine and sleep for the next day starting this extraordinary adventure.

Day 2			Guargualla - Plazapamba - After breakfast, we leave Guargualla towards camping place in Plazapamba (6 hours walk). Box lunch during the hike. Camp. Dinner and night at Plazapamba.

Day 3			Plazapamba - La Playa - Breakfast. At 8 am, departure to La Playa. (6 hours walk). Box lunch during the hike. Camp. Dinner and night at La Playa, base camp to the Sangay summit.

Day 4			Climbing of Sangay summit - Time to get up, 5 am. After breakfast, departure to the summit. The climb to reach the crater is about 7 hours. We can stay 30 minutes on the summit to observe the volcanic activity depending of the weather condition. Descent to the base camp (3h) and lunch. Rest time. Dinner and camp at La Playa.

Day 5			Return to Plazapamba - Breakfast. At 8:00 am, departure to Plazapamba (6 hours walk). Box lunch during the hike. Installing the camp. Dinner and night at Plazapamba.

Day 6			Return to Guargualla and Riobamba - Breakfast. Around 8 am, departure to Guargualla and then to Riobamba. Lunch during the hike. End of the program.

NOTA:			If participants do not have good physical condition and want to reach, it will take another day to get to Sangay, and if the weather conditions do not allow to go out because rivers grow and sometimes it is impossible to return and you must wait until down the rivers. Surcharge for each extra day. 80 USD
