This new adventure cruising around the Galapagos is a
great alternative to the typical tour in the Galapagos, finally new options have
been opened and new areas that were never visited before are available during
this cruise.
We combine the natural wildlife of the Galapagos islands
such as swimming with sea lions, observe blue footed boobies or frigate birds
nesting areas, incredible underwater life while snorkelling.
Visit the top of volcanoes most of which are still active
and took part of the formation of these islands which is not available on any
regular cruise, all this plus the unique experience of seeing how the human
population in this islands live and interact with nature in harmony, learn how
people arrived, how they survive and what locals do in Galapagos.
Our operational days are flexible and we can start
any day of the week and adjust to your requirements.
Itinerary 8 days: Sunday to Sunday
Day 1 flight from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra Island , where our guide will
pick you up and take you to the yacht. After a quick stop in Puerto Ayora
and lunch on board we will move on to Punta Estrada and Bahia Divine , a
calm shallow water place where rays, mullets and sharks can be seen along
the rocky coast line, blue footed boobies and frigates are also found on the
cliffs, snorkelling . Back on board: dinner and navigation to San Cristobal
Island .
Day 2 After breakfast we will drive to the highlands and walk to El Junco
lagoon (the only natural source of fresh water in the islands, frigate birds
feed on the fish in the lagoon, lots of land birds such as Darwins finches
and mocking birds can be found.) Box lunch and visit to La Galapaguera which
is a part of the Galapagos National Park where we will be able to find a
great number of giant tortoises in its natural habitat, in other words a
privilege of our journey. After exploring the surroundings we will walk to
Puerto Chino , a beautiful and pristine beach will be the perfect spot for a
laid back afternoon where you can snorkel, swim or simply relax. Dinner.
Day 3 Breakfast and on the way sightseeing visit to Kicker Rock - León
dormido, an old tuff cone eroded by the ocean and now serves as nesting
place for frigate birds, blue footed boobies and nazca (ex masked) boobies,
tropic birds and of course this magnificent volcanic formation. Box lunch
and visit to Puerto Grande for snorkeling . A fter dinner we sail to
Floreana .
Day 4 After having breakfast on board we will go by car to the highlands of Floreana , where pirates and whalers used volcanic caves as hiding places.
Box Lunch, back in town we will visit Puerto Velasco Ibarra , the smallest
town in the Galapagos with a population of around 100 people. We'll have
dinner on board and navigation to Isabela.
Day 5 Isabela island the largest and one of the youngest in the Galapagos
and it is one of the most beautiful island. After breakfast and
approximately an hour bus ride we will get to Sierra Negra volcano, which is
still active and in October 2005 gave us the most recent volcanic eruption
in Galapagos. From here we start with a horse back-riding journey along the
crater of the volcano, this experience will fulfill every expectation.
Normally we find giant tortoises on the way. After we continue with a
trekking on a trail of lava to volcan Chico , walk on a large lava flow and
fortunately we might see fumaroles and an incredible landscape from the top.
Today we will have a box lunch and the afternoon we'll have it free to enjoy
the beach.
Day 6 Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island has the second smallest population
in Galapagos with around 1800 inhabitants is still pristine and untouched.
Breakfast and zodiac ride to tintoreras or white tip sharks grotto, small
shallow channels in between lava flows with sandy bottom in which we usually
find white tipped reef sharks. Isabela also has penguins populations and
normally we find them swimming with us, after this visit we go back on
board. Lunch and in the afternoon we visit to the muro de las lagrimas a
wall of lava rocks made by inmates from an old penal colony established on
the island. To finish our day we can relax on the white sand beach right in
town with many shore birds and marine life .
Day 7 Puerto Ayora during the morning and alter breakfast we go to the
highest part of the Island for a bike ride and will be able to observe
tortoises in its natural habitat. After lunch we visit the world famous
Charles Darwin Research Centre where all the efforts to protect and preserve
the native and endemic animals are developed; we will also find Giant
tortoises rearing programs and of course Lonesome George .
Day 8 After breakfast on our way to the airport we stop at Los Gemelos a
pair of craters (sink holes) in the middle of the Scalesia zone, scalesias
are endemic trees only found in Galapagos and they create a great nesting
area for Darwins finches as well as many other land birds such as
flycatchers, doves etc Baltra and visit to the Gemelos. After this visit we
drive straight to the airport to catch your flight back to main land: Quito
or Guayaquil .

Just once in life ...
The biggest spectacle of wildlife on the planet
They were nicknamed the "enchanted islands", "Noah's Ark",
"laboratory of evolution" and all other ways to describe the big
scale that nature can offer to privileged few who access. The
landscape is not that what you might think: Despite the fact that
the islands are on the equator in the Pacific volcanic rock abound,
and there are few beaches. But make no mistake ...
We do not go Galapagos sunbathing and relaxing but enjoy nature and
learn her. In a few days, you will see scenes of wildlife that are
normally reserved for researchers who have devoted many years to
observe the animals. And a few steps. Sure first you should not take
any pictures of an animal because you will be closest to him ! Enjoy
this trip to share unique sensations but remember respect rules.
None of them is a whim. Islands live balancing precarious and need
our attention and protection.
Far, only ...
A 1000 km of Ecuador, this archipelago of 19 main islands and
numerous islets offers a wilderness that you can almost touch. Most
practical is an organized trip. Some rules and tips:
A visit to these islands is highly regulated to avoid as much as
possible the impact of tourism. Be aware that you can not stay in an
area that belongs to a national park without a guide with you,
carrying food or smoking. For this latter point to worry, compulsive
smokers say they forget cigarettes in front of such a spectacle ...
On islands you can only walk on tagged trails but ago already so
many things to see, like birds nesting path eg ... There are other
rules: do not animals, not throwing garbage not take sand or plants.
Economic cruises not provide diving equipment therefore you should
bring it. Take lots of film and memory card because you'll go crazy
taking pictures ...
Puerto Ayora, central operation:
Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, is the most populated of the
Galapagos, and the place from which organized the visits if you have
not planned ahead. Do not forgot to visit Puerto Ayora’s periphery,
and research center Charles Darwin (Monday to Friday 7 to 13 pm and
14 to 16 h and Saturday 7 to 13 h) where you find information on the
islands, various types of turtles, including Lonesome George, the
last specimen of the subspecies from Pinta Island. You can walk to
your home in the area of the island that is not a national park, go
to Tortuga Bay (to see the sunset), or visit the volcanic tubes
about 3 km from Puerto Ayora on the road to Bellavista.
You can also go to the turtle´s swimming pool Chato (take the bus to
Bellavista three per day - and tell the driver to drop you off at
the Crossroads). There are several agencies in Puerto Ayora
organizing guided tours of the island.
Open objective:
To move on the various islands and the best way is to do it with a
cruise. Obviously, the best being that in the long run because they
can visit the islands and there are no two alike. You should choose
according to your interests, because there are islands on which
there are more animals than others. For example, Española is a good
place if you want to dive and see the largest marine iguanas of the
archipelago. Bartholome is one of the best places to see penguins,
and Floreana, in addition to land on a sandy beach of green, you can
dive in the Corona del Diablo, a volcano almost submerged.
Have a good time at Galapagos !!!! |
